Treatment Planning at Our Clinic
At Wellington Dental Clinic, the technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments run smoothly.
After we have taken X-rays or used an intraoral scanner, we can then use the monitors in our treatment rooms to show you any issues we have found in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
During your appointment, we can also use our VELscope® to check for signs of cancer that may be otherwise difficult to detect. Like most oral health conditions, oral cancer is easier to treat when caught early.
Our goal is to provide patients with dental care while making sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-Rays
Using digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film, digital X-rays can capture highly detailed computer images of your teeth, gums, and oral structures with significantly less radiation. This allows your dentist to get a closer look at what could be going on below your gum line.
Panoramic X-Rays
Your dentist can use a panoramic X-ray to create one single flat image of your entire mouth that includes your teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Often, panoramic X-rays are used to help plan for further treatments, such as extractions or implants.
Intraoral Cameras
Intraoral cameras provide brightly lit images that help our dentists get a better look at your teeth and gums. They can be used to spot and diagnose abnormalities that might not be visible to the naked eye.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope is an oral cancer screening device that helps the dentist identify abnormalities and diseases in your mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. It accomplishes this by using fluorescence visualization technology. Oral cancer screening with a VELscope can be completed during routine exams.
